What the South Gate is
The Comunidad de Bardenas Reales places the main southern entry to the bardenero territory in Fustiñana. In its news item of 13 June 2026 (Spanish) it presents the Fustiñana information and tourism centre as the South Gate, aimed at interpreting farming and its historic link with the landscape.
The same announcement describes the Carcastillo counterpart as the North Gate, focused on extensive livestock and grazing. Both sit alongside the Aguilares centre (Arguedas). They are not three copies of the same building: the interpretation theme and the gate they organise change.
The centre: works finished, opening to confirm
The manager puts the combined investment for Fustiñana and Carcastillo at €4,617,372 (€2,260,890 for Fustiñana) and speaks of completing the works. That documents the state of the buildings on that date. The same text does not publish visitor hours or a public opening date.
On 14 September 2026 the park’s services page still listed as information centre the one on the natural-park road, km 6 (access NA-8712 km 0.8, Arguedas area), with a calendar labelled 2025. Fustiñana does not appear on that sheet.
Do not assume the desk is open

Access to the Bardena Negra
Visit Navarra describes access to the Bardena Negra — redder and more vegetated than the Blanca — towards Ejea de los Caballeros (N-125) or Fustiñana (N-126). That is the logic of this gate: it does not replace Aguilares or the usual Castildetierra track from Arguedas.
As elsewhere in the park, vehicles may only use authorised tracks, at 40 km/h maximum, and you must leave one hour before nightfall (in winter Visit Navarra says to leave before 16:30). Check the notices before you enter: a generic satnav route labelled “Bardenas” can end on a closed stretch or in the military zone, where transit is forbidden.
Fustiñana as a base, not as park parking
The village is outside the park territory. Fustiñana Town Council publishes a rest area for motorhomes and vehicles approved as dwellings. It is not parking inside the Bardenas and it does not authorise overnight stays on the tracks. Rules, emptying and electricity tokens: motorhomes and campervans in the Bardenas Reales.
If you want a house, not an aire: El Balcón del Moncayo is in the village of Fustiñana. Vive Bardenas and that house have the same owner.
How to use it today
- If you need the information centre with published hours, start from Aguilares (Arguedas) until Fustiñana appears on the services page or is confirmed by phone.
- If your aim is the Bardena Negra, Fustiñana is the south gate named by the manager and Visit Navarra; take an official plan and a plan B.
- Do not improvise a night in the landscape: camping and overnight stays in the open are forbidden across the park.
