Motorhomes and campervans in the Bardenas Reales

The rule that decides the trip

The park’s tourist-use rules forbid camping, individual or in a group, in a tent or in a motorhome, and overnight stays in the open across the territory. This is not a courtesy note: it is a restriction of the protected space. An improvised “aire” beside Castildetierra, a cabezo or a track is not an exception. English van-life posts that describe a pause “along the road” do not override that ban if the pause becomes a night or a pitched awning.

A daytime visit is provided for, under the same frame as any other vehicle: from 8 a.m. until one hour before nightfall (in winter Visit Navarra says to leave before 16:30), only on authorised tracks, at 40 km/h maximum, following notices and signage. On 14 September 2026 the Perimetral–El Paso closure and the Cabezo de Cortinillas path closure were still published, among others.

Visiting by day with a long vehicle

The park does not publish a sheet of “motorhomes allowed / refused” per track. Visit Navarra advises against sports cars and mini cars on the El Paso access; that is another limit, not an implied permit for a tall or long vehicle. A 4x4 or a compact campervan is not the same as a large motorhome or American-style RV.

Before you enter:

• Ask at the information centre if it is open: +34 948 830 308 · [email protected].
• Download an official plan and cross-check it with the notices.
• Reread the vehicle or hire contract: a track that allows traffic does not mean the insurance covers that use.
• If a passage is narrow, soft or doubtful, do not go in “to see”. Turn round or leave the vehicle in a village.

The centre with published hours on 14 September 2026 was still Aguilares, natural-park road km 6 (access NA-8712 km 0.8 from the Tudela–Arguedas axis). Fustiñana (South Gate) had finished building work according to the manager, but was not yet on the services page: do not treat it as a sure desk. Detail: South Gate (Fustiñana).

Overnight in Fustiñana (municipal aire)

Fustiñana Town Council provides a rest area exclusively for motorhomes and vehicles approved as dwellings. It is in the village, not in the park. It fits if you enter or leave via the South Gate towards the Bardena Negra.

Services described: waste-water emptying, drinking and non-drinking water points, a grid for grey water, a post for black-water emptying and non-potable water, drinking-water taps, and electricity via free tokens.

Rules published by the council:

• No parking in the emptying and filling zone.
• No washing vehicles on the aire.
• Leave the pitch clean; do not pour liquids outside the grids.
• Exclusive use for motorhomes and vehicles approved as dwellings.
• No disturbing noise from 22:00 to 09:00.
• Rubbish only in the provided bins.
• Unsupervised area: the council is not liable for damage to vehicles.

Overnight in Arguedas (municipal aire)

Arguedas Town Council describes the municipal motorhome parking on Paseo del Bordón, in the village. It fits if you visit via the Aguilares centre access or the Bardena Blanca.

Data from the descriptive sheet we consulted:

• latitude 42º 10′ 26″ · longitude 1º 35′ 29″ (as published by the council);
• 9 pitches;
• services: overnight stay, drinking water, grey-water emptying, chemical WC for black water, wifi;
• maximum stay: 48 consecutive hours;
• parking free; service token: €2.00;
• access: all directions, via the park road, turning towards the village;

Tokens are sold in local shops listed on that page (bars, bakeries, supermarkets, the NA-8712 km 1 filling station, among others). We do not copy the list: it changes. Check the municipal sheet or ask in the village. The council also points to its parking and overnight ordinance.

The same page cites “other parking zones”: Senda Viva car park (14 spaces, free) and the Virgen del Yugo surroundings (30 spaces, free). The council does not describe them as a motorhome aire with emptying and overnight stay. We do not present them as equivalent to Paseo del Bordón.

Which base to choose

There is no village that is “officially better” for motorhomes. The practical choice is the gate you will use by day:

• Arguedas if you prioritise the published information centre, Castildetierra and the Bardena Blanca;
• Fustiñana if you prioritise the South Gate and the Bardena Negra.

Valtierra and Tudela can fit if you combine other visits, but we do not have equivalent municipal sheets verified for this guide: we do not invent aires. A campsite or hotel with motorhome parking is another option; check dimensions, services and whether overnight stays on site are allowed by the establishment, not by the park.

Before you leave

• Reread the rules and the notices of the day.
• Have water, fuel and a plan B in a village: if it has rained, the park advises against entering.
• Do not trust a blog GPS pin for a night “with a view”. If it is not on a municipal sheet or at an establishment, do not use it.
• The park is not a service aire: empty tanks and recharge in Fustiñana or Arguedas, not on a track.
